On Saturday at least, the dragon collapsed next to the M32. Crisis averted.

They made a TV programme in our lab! Fun times last June with Hannah Fry and the BBC. Our bit was about the invention of electric heating elements in 1905 - how new alloys and materials enable transformational technologies that change the world.

Today we welcome Simba, who is 4 and from Swindon. He’s a tiger, obvs, but on first day is already into lap sits, head bops and scritches.

I loved pusscat, who died of old age in 2021. He was the best of cats.
