Weird gay girl who loves media a lot
I’m reading the first run of The Thing solo comic and there’s a silly and fun issue that I really enjoyed but at the end they do this which makes it even better

In Xenosaga 1, you can get an email from Kazuya Mishima telling you about how he’s kicking ass in the King of Iron Fist tournament. This game is amazing

The First Slam Dunk

This is a masterful adaptation of the manga’s final match, bringing it to life with a great blend of 2d and 3d animation. This film also gives Ryota Miyagi (a character who gets little focus in the manga) so much pathos and history, and makes this last match matter even more

Slam Dunk

I see why this is the king of sports manga. The art is very good and shows everything what’s happening in each match well, and Inoue knows how to keep each moment tense, but what really makes this series shine is its characters. You get attached and root for them like they’re your team

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Fittingly, this game was my own white whale: A game deeply beloved and revered that I was first intrigued by but then highly disappointed with that I could never get far in but stayed in my thoughts and hard drive for years regardless

Rohan at the Louvre

This is actually the first solo Rohan story I’ve read and I really liked it! It was fun to see Araki do a short story with a bigger focus on mystery and horror while also humanizing Rohan in a way that Part 4 never tries to, and it was great to see him do it all in color

Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin

That was a pretty good game! Idk if I liked it as much as Dawn of Sorrow but it was really fun and did a good job at keeping the non linear style while also having separate areas for parts of the game, but I do wish they got more out of you controlling two characters

Torna- The Golden Country

I love prequels so much, especially due to the dramatic irony and tragedy of knowing how it’s going to end, and this game plays with that so well. It revels in twisting the knife in you, making you care so much for all the people you meet, all while knowing their fates

Xenoblade Chronicles 2

Its flaws are very visible and its style and tone is different from 1’s but this is an incredible experience. The combat is very fun and engaging, and open world design is well thought out. I loved getting to new areas and exploring every corner I could find

Devil May Cry 5

Dante and Nero’s move sets have been made even better, V is a lot of fun to play as, the style is still great, and they had more of a focus on the story and deepening these characters, and all retaining the goofy sense of fun the series has. Easily the best game in the series

Sinners

I know everyone is talking about this movie right now but I think it lives up to the acclaim it’s getting. I had a great time watching it, it was a very good being a period piece about what it meant to be black in the Jim Crow South and balanced that with becoming a fun horror movie so well

Paradise Kiss

It manages a great balance between being a romantic drama about two people with different needs and a coming of age story about a young woman learning what she wants out of life and gaining the confidence to pursue it. The whole cast is very compelling and the art is incredible

Death Stranding

After being disappointed by MGS 5, I was excited to see Kojima and his team make something new with a focus on story again, and having finally beaten it, it did not disappoint. I really enjoyed the gameplay and the depth and variety they to put into it, it’s a great walking sim

Wolf Children

This movie deftly juggles the experience of both childhood and parenthood, showing the perspective of each member of this family so well. It resonated strongly to see experiences that mirror my own and my mother’s while growing up. I’m glad I saw this now, when I can look back on it

Devil May Cry 4

It’s a weaker game than 3 in terms of its structure since they have you go through all the levels in reverse (tho I do appreciate how they change up your experience in each) and you play as Dante for so little of it, but I ended up liking it more, mostly because of Nero’s moveset

Devil May Cry 3

This was a great follow up! Adds on the overall style of the series (especially in the cutscenes), develops the combat into the shining example of the subgenre, and tells a fun story that while nothing special, is affecting and treats these characters and their struggles seriously

Devil May Cry

It was surreal at first that this game doesn’t have the same focus and implementation of combos that the later games and successors would, but its structure, pacing, level and enemy design, variety, and effective story moments make it hold up as a cool, unique game

Hitman Absolution

Did not have fun with this game but it was really interesting to see it try to mesh a linear stealth game with the classic Hitman style and not have it work at all, but I can definitely see the bones of what became the modern games in this one, so it was worth the playthrough
