I’ve been told this is where all the writers from X went… Is this true? I’VE MISSED YOU ALL SO MUCH!

Working on my travel version chart of who is betraying who is betraying who and why in my new WIP… #amwriting (kinda)
December 23, 2023 at 1:12 PM
The earliest stage of a writing project for me is listening to the MCs having out of context conversations in my head:

“If you’ve gotta be fucking FREEZING, there’s no better place to be fucking freezing than Cleveland.”

“You haven’t had a real good time ‘til you’ve seen the back of an ambulance.”
December 21, 2023 at 11:07 AM
I don’t really have a separate muse. I fall at least a little in love with all my MCs and they are my muse for their story. I’m totally obsessed with getting in their heads and hearing them talk.

Your muse materialises as a real person before your eyes. Describe them!

#HorrorWritersChat … this. whatever this is.

BUT THEN THE CHARACTERS DO WHATEVER THE F*** THEY WANT ANYWAY.

so rude.
November 29, 2023 at 9:51 PM
This is a weird answer for #HorrorWritersChat but, honesty? My MCs fell in love too quickly. The reader was supposed to be on board with one MC thinking the other was, and I quote, ‘a psychotic, murderous bitch’ but then all of a sudden it was, ‘Nooo. She’s so PRETTY.’

Rogue character shenanigans…
Think about your current horror WIP / most recent release. What have you / did you find most challenging?

Helloooo #HorrorWritersChat. Daryn. Currently in the nerve wracking phase of a new WIP where, no matter what I do, it always seems to take three months for a new idea to just percolate. But…

Dragons (I know. I swear they’re different.)
Finders
Keepers
Nuns
Cardiectomy
Cats
Welcome to another round of questions!

Here we go with question 1: Introduce yourself: tell us who you are and sum up your current horror WIP in six words or fewer

So… I’m writing? Kinda?

This has really gotten out of hand.

I just needed help visualizing a few things…

women only want one thing and its an engineer covered in grease, her boilersuit tied by the sleeves at her waist and her tank top stuck to her body with sweat, telling you that your starship's z-pinch reactor is shot and that she'll need to stay onboard over the whole voyage to keep it from failing.

All my works are equally and astoundingly brilliant.

The historians will never reach a consensus.

“If I died tomorrow, I’d like future historians to feel [blank] was my best work, but it’ll probably be [blank] instead.” Fill in the blanks (and feel free to elaborate)!

YOU WANT THEM TO BE KIND TOO?!

Well, the current MC literally saves a cat early on. Last MC was kind but wary. Didn’t trust easily, but gave her cardigan to ladies with a chill. Decapitated a werewolf to save her LI. All those small touches to show she cares…
13th November is World Kindness Day. Who is your kindest character? How are they kind?

It has been so long!

Daryn. I write mostly murder mysteries, dark fantasy and horror. Always a dash of absurdism. I want to have my next WIP plotted out by the end of the year. Considering I’m worldbuilding back to the formation of the planet, I think that’s enough…
Good evening. Here we go with #HorrorWritersChat Question 1:

Introduce yourself: Tell us who you are and set yourself a writing target for the rest of the year

How to write a book:

- pick a time each day
- write a little bit
- write a little more
- write more
- keep writing
- oh god it’s just more writing isn’t it
- the writing never stops
- this is your life now
- you asked for this, you mental crouton
- all is pain
- snack break

Hi, #FantasyIndiesSpooktober! For Free Friday… I described a Bed and Breakfast house like a biiiiiig spider today in my spooky WIP…

I can’t lie to you #FantasyIndiesSpooktober friends… I haven’t been listening to spooky music while I write this WIP. Kodaline has been representing MC’s vibe in my head, while Mumford & Sons has represented LI. A little Lord Huron mixed in occasionally.

Well, shit.

Writing I can do, but if I have to cultivate the mystique of celebrity to sell books…

Regular inside peeks into my life and personality are probably about as interesting as watching a shuffleboard tournament.

(I’be actually never watched shuffleboard. Maybe it’s fascinating.) #author

Maeve thought she would have more time…

Monsters in Of Myth and Memento Mori: yes, indeed, there are monsters. They lurk within the trees.
October 18, 2023 at 1:39 PM
Oh, #FantasyIndiesSpooktober… So many, but a few are twiiiiiiiiiisty so I can only tell you werewolves, werewolves, a couple of other werewolves, oh, yeah, and that one particular werewolf. Also a witch, or two, or maybe three. Or possibly four. It is hard to tell for sure until the very, very end.

Weirdly, for the first time pretty much ever, my current MC doesn’t wax poetic in long paragraphs on food, #FantasyIndiesSpooktober friends. I think her favorite ‘treats’ are probably more things like travel, high end skincare products, maybe clothes… She’s my first Fancy Pants MC…
October 17, 2023 at 7:11 PM
In short, #FantasyIndiesSpooktober, the answer is: Not well. She snaps at the people she cares about when she’s scared. Usually because she’s scared something bad is going to happen to THEM, not necessarily scared for herself.

Luckily, LI finds it kinda endearing.

If Geraldine came to life I would beg her to marry me and we’d run away to Pulpit Rock in Norway for a destination wedding (she describes this dream in her story). I’d totally BASE jump off a cliff in Norway after the ceremony for the woman of my dreams. #HorrorWritersChat
Doubtful. I'm aro, so I have no interest in that kind of thing. However, there's one character in one of my WIPs who's also aro. I could see us getting together and having a platonic Doctor Who marathon or something along those lines.
