Only seen briefly from below without bins (all the excuses) but pretty darn sure I had a Firecrest between Cardiff Museum and the city centre today (see pin below, feeding in canopy of tree by bus stop). #glambirds #glambirding #urbanbirding

Five days at Flamborough, birding sunrise to sunset, c.25,000 steps/day. Found precisely *zero* birds of note. Did get a cold but pretty sure I brought it with me. Bumped into other folks’ Barred Warbler, Yellow-browed Warbler and Caspian Gulls. #slooooooow #birding #maybenexttime

Goldcliff Pools: Curlew Sand over W, juv Hobby, juv Peregrine, 3 Whinchat, 4 Yellow Wag, 5 Wheatear, 3 Grey Wag SW, 12 Siskin WNW, and 90+ grounded Mipits. Also Whimbrel, 6 Turnstone, 40 Knot and 35 Blackwit on/over foreshore/pill. #gwentbirding #birdingWales

Goldcliff Pools: Whinchat, 2 Redstart, c.7 Yellow Wag, 12+ Wheatear, etc. Also Whimbrel, 2 Knot, 145 Ringed Plover, 40 Dunlin, etc., on foreshore. Thanks to the fire, the patch is in prime condition for autumn, I’m predicting Lewis’s Woodpecker. #gwentbirding #birdingWales #silverlinings

ST 43358 85329. Couldn’t locate the second. Also 5+ Small Red-eyed Damsels, including an ovipositing pair. #odonata

A leisurely local twitch for @stevepreddy.bsky.social’s Willow Emeralds. Found one within two minutes of arriving. It remained faithful to a favoured perch in the overhanging Ash at c. ST 43358 85329. Couldn’t locate the second. Also 5+ Small Red-eyed Damsels, including an ovipositing pair. #odonata
