This is a cool idea. I would say the ship looks like a red-brick academic building with class and lab space. It stays in each plane for a few months, so the researchers just teach classes / give teaching space to whoever lives there. POV is their grad student or possibly the ship's librarian.

Lupita reads it aloud on Netflix's Bookmarks. No behind the scenes commentary or anything, just her reading the book, but she has a beautiful voice.

You would probably like Wayne Family Adventures. It's very good and all about Batman having feelings and trying to raise his kids.

True, but Peter isn't Miles' dad so it's not quite as close of a parallel.

It happens in Batman stuff when Bruce's kids try to decide who, if anyone, should get the name+costume after he dies. Damien has a similar vibe to Rumi even, with the 'am I inherently unworthy because of who my other parent is' kind of plot.

That's the only one I can think of though.

There's a graphic novel adaptation by Mike Mignola of the 'Bram Stoker's Dracula' movie adaptation of Dracula.

Is Dance Apocalyptic too literal?

I would love to hear more about this, or some brand recommends if you like what you're using. I've been trying to repair some warped prints with just greenstuff and sanding, and it hasn't been working for me.

Now I really want to see a cover of Taskmaster saying "Nick Fury is a Jerk!" in the classic Kitty Pryde pose

A list could be cool. Either 'spend the XP to pick one of these, otherwise gm picks' or a list that's like 'for each XP you spend, pick one of these options'.

The task resolution system itself is great; interesting choices and sounds fun to watch. Something about 'sacrifice XP to choose how it happens' bothers me though. It feels like 'if you enjoy narrating or have a fun idea, then do that, otherwise take XP'.

I'm in Los Angeles. LA County is massive - bigger than Delaware. The City of Los Angeles is much smaller but still big and weirdly shaped (surrounds Santa Monica and several other cities). So if I said "the city" I would be trying to differentiate between the two.

www.the-isb.com/2024/08/11/t... by @theisb.bsky.social hasn't been linked yet and is well worth a read.

You're mostly getting non-fiction but there's a lot of good fiction about people playing games, so I'll also suggest DIE by Kieran Gillen and Dungeon Club by Molly Knox Ostertag.

I have copies of this, his Guide to Fantasy, and Alien Life of Wayne Barlowe. Highly recommend the other two if you don't have them yet.

This is part of why I like painting stuff (minis, etc) when I'm not up to making something from scratch. You still make choices about colors and stuff, but there's no blank paper to stare at.

My older kid has a stuffed seahorse which was named "sea whore" for about 3 years. We managed to mostly keep a straight face about it.

In the same vein they made 4 pretty good Batman games and then said "but what if we stopped putting Batman in them" and made Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad.

I suspect a lot of the backlash is jerks saying "I would prefer no romance ever to the possibility that two dudes might kiss" in the same way that many other good things have been ruined by conservatives.
March 10, 2025 at 5:41 PM
Definitely agree. It's very weird to me that comics have gone this way, because 'who should Peter Parker date' (or Kitty Pryde, Wolverine, etc) were major points of debate in comics for decades.

Jet Set Radio: a game about roller-blading graffiti artists dodging the cops while listening to pirate radio. Sadly, I don't think you can buy it right now, but I played through it multiple times back in the Dreamcast era.

My 3 year old recommends Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Winnie The Pooh (2011), and Pooh's Hephalump Movie.

When my other kid was that age, they watched the Brandi / Whitney Houston version of Cinderella many times.
