Today’s other classic album. Say what you like about Sting, his first solo album is a masterpiece. Two things really stood out to me today:
1. Interesting production: the vocal is often quite distant, it’s like the band is between us and the singer. I wouldn’t do it like that, but it sort of works.

For the last year I’ve been slowly working through my entire record collection, cleaning a couple most days and listening to them. It’s been great to reacquaint myself with so many great albums. This gem from 1990 is a real treasure and today’s favourite.

My incredible brainwave this week was to put the cloves in this when stewing fruit. You don’t have to hunt through to pick them out when you’re done (or leave them in and chew on them unexpectedly).
