"Dare to be cute." — George Lucas.

Dispatches from the fandom of @nicktierce.com
One of the many reasons Star Wars Visions is awesome is that I didn't know I needed a droid that looks like a Tucker until a droid that looks like a Tucker rolled into my life.

I love you Lulu. Hold that tiger.

A Batuuan Spira from Galaxy's Edge appears in the Star Wars: Visions season 3 animated short "Yuko's Treasure", complete with Parks-accurate Aurebesh markings:

A diegetic ad in the trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu movie reads, "HALCYON — SEE THE GALAXY" and depicts the galactic starcruiser in profile:

I'm taking at least partial credit for this signage change.

I hope the next replica in the Savi / Kyber / Holocron / Wayfinder interactive product line for Galaxy's Edge is an archives Holobook.

Nobody's ever done a good version, and we get a solid look in Jedi Survivor and Young Jedi Adventures. Have it activate data entries with the crystals.

Supplier issues on the base shirt forced me to pull the listing, but it will return!

Over the years I've made it a point to not meet Doug Chiang, for fear of passing out.

I, thankfully, remained conscious.

The new Disney Parks Starspeeder 1000 toy plays three fixed combinations of destinations:

Kef Bir / Crait / Batuu
Tatooine / Coruscant
Tatooine / Seatos

Sadly, the podrace is duplicated in two of the three, but I'm delighted to find the Batuu ending was included!

The Starspeeder 1000 has joined it's real-world predecessor / canonical successor! Glad to see all the pieces that were retooled for accuracy.

Saw a post this morning that the new Starspeeder had hit Disneyland, and I jumped out of bed and into my car so fast you'd think I was one of the parents from Home Alone.

The cover of the upcoming Dark Horse Sequel Trilogy compilation comic features Rey in her Batuu / Starcruiser exclusive hair and costume combination.

when nobody tells me star tours is closing for an extended refurbishment
July 1, 2025 at 6:32 AM
Despite there being established, canonical galactic coordinates for Batuu, this new satchel bag has the Earth coordinates for Smugglers Run in Orlando printed on it.

Merch has fully lost the plot.

the coke x star wars collab has some incredible deep cuts
June 26, 2025 at 6:35 PM
Excited to learn what the future holds for the Disney Parks / Epic Games collaboration.

This upcoming Fornite recreation of Galaxy's Edge could enable some really ambitious digital-to-physical interactivity.

I particularly appreciate that fog has been added, revealing a cone of light between Bard's holoprojector and Tohan's hologram. Chef's kiss.
June 2, 2025 at 6:11 PM
For reasons unknown, the image of the Lore-weaver has been flipped from his on-set appearance. This leaves him gesturing in the wrong direction when he indicates Bard, his hand cut off by the edge of the projection glass.

Today is the 6th anniversary of Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland.

I find myself thinking back to that time, when characters appeared through park closing, and we all had a shared alibi for interaction.

Today, characters disappear at 4pm, and the fractured timeline strains diegetic conversation.

"I'll send you back to the world between worlds, punk."

Who could have guessed that two cantinas on completely unrelated planets would be powered by the exact same jury-rigged ship engine.

(LOVING Legacy of Vader, but this was a weird and distracting choice.)

Presumably a remnant of previous lightsaber training shows, the Ghorman Saja in Disneyland Paris are using an unlicensed third-party knockoff dueling saber anyone can buy.

So, naturally, I did.

They also attached the blade with gaffer tape (!) so I went ahead and painted the emitter black:

For the Star Trek: Red Alert walkthrough at Universal Fan Fest, they created a "Spaceport Los Angeles" logo.

While there is, sadly, no merchandise featuring this parks-specific sigil, I'm happy to report that they have added a gobo to the side of the building midway through the run of the event.

Happy birthday, Mr. Lucas. Thank you for daring to be cute, and giving children a myth they can carry through the thresholds of life.
