I began this research project back in the summer of 2020, when it was unclear when I would regain full access to an academic library, much less visit the tomb. I therefore feel particularly lucky to be able to share the final product from my temporary home here in Rome.

In the article, I examine the famous Scipionic epitaphs in their original context to position the tomb as a site for relational engagement with the past, where family history was articulated through an ongoing dialogue with the dead.
