So, I tried to combine an English DVD with the Blu-ray to see if I could make a passable imitation of the version I remember. I did this using Jasc Paint Shop Pro 9 (!) because I am stupid. Here's the final result:

The Blu-ray releases of THE BIG BLUE / LE GRAND BLEU all use a scan of a French print. This is fine - it's a French movie - but it was filmed in English and I remember the original UK and US releases both used an English title animation.

Sorting through my gran's stuff and found an old medical manual. Doesn't have a date on it so I'm not sure when this advice was considered reasonable...
