“What’s your plan for the Court?” is the only question that matters for 2028 Democratic hopefuls, because if they don’t, the Republican Super Legislature is hatcheting their agenda before it can get off the ground.
#BREAKING: Over dissents from the three democratic appointees, #SCOTUS puts Texas's new House maps back into effect for (and, presumably, through) the 2026 midterms.

The three Democratic appointees, in an opinion by Justice Kagan, dissent.

I'll post the ruling shortly.

As someone who spends a heck of a lot of time thinking about the evidentiary base Congress would need to build up and rely on if we were to pass comprehensive voting rights reform, it is extremely dispiriting to watch them just play Calvinball over and over. We need Supreme Court reform, yesterday

After today's performance, the Eagles offense ranks 28th in success rate.

They are producing a positive play at a lower rate than offenses like the Saints and the Jets.

It's the worst offensive success rate for an Eagles team through Week 13 in the last 20 years.

UPMC weighs in on federal case over the health records of its young transgender patients
Though UPMC’s filing urges the court to delay the sharing of patient records and provider notes, it stops short of arguing against complying with the DOJ subpoena altogether.

Gender-affirming care saves lives
1. A landmark study was just published in The Journal of Pediatrics.

It found a 68% reduction in suicidality for trans youth getting HRT.

It also found only 7 of more than 400 stopped taking HRT... and of those that did, 4 still identified as gender-diverse.

Transgender care saves lives.
Study In The Journal Of Pediatrics Finds Trans Youth Care Lowers Suicidality, Few Detransition
The groundbreaking study found that suicidality dropped for transgender youth receiving hormone therapy by nearly 70%, with only 7 patients of 432 discontinuing treatment.

Riley’s messaging about trans athletes involves “predatory men” and “sexual assault.”

Me, on the finally passed Pennsylvania budget, which took another step towards fully funded schools: “The era of one-off, ad hoc education budgets is over.”
Pa.’s public schools are getting $665 million in new money with the state budget deal
The deal also includes reforms for cyber charter schools that will represent a savings of hundreds of millions to school districts across the state.

Hard at work to eliminate the robberies of the delivery trucks while still making sure they can offer the kiddos some cigarettes on the house.
Left is the MLB press release that just went out, right is the conclusion of my column last night. I think we've got pretty strong evidence that having these markets open at all is asking for trouble, but it's a step in the right direction.

This is correct. Constitutions don't have loopholes. That is not how it works.

If your response is "But Alito and Thomas," you have not discovered a "loophole," but rather, a fear of authoritarianism.
THERE IS NO VICE PRESIDENT LOOPHOLE. IT'S NOT AMBIGUOUS. NO SERIOUS SCHOLAR OR ANALYST THINKS THERE IS A LOOPHOLE. STOP JUST GIVING TRUMP THE PREMISE, FFS.

In our case, DOJ partially justified pilfering through kids' records with a sworn declaration describing a lawsuit filed against CHOP.

The next day, w/o explanation, DOJ amended the declaration.

CHOP has posited an answer: That DOJ was actually relying on a random NY Post article.
CHOP called new evidence presented by President Donald Trump’s administration weak and untrustworthy in a blistering legal response to federal efforts to investigate its doctors providing gender-affirming care.

The Department of Justice claimed it was investigating "fraudulent billing practices" in an effort to procure patient information related to gender-affirming care.

For 26 but especially 2028 it's time for Democrats to make clear that the current Supreme Court will have to be reformed (expanded in number, reformed in structure) to allow popular govt to continue in the United States. Not so much a litmus test as precondition for any other promise to be credible.
