"You've done all you can" is the state we all pursue, and yet that pursuit means, when we get there, we often feel anxious and paralyzed.

The way my grandparents told me, it was mostly rich people trying to stop Roosevelt and Coughlin on the radio saying the Germans had the right idea.

I try my best to not get visibly angry anymore. The collapse of my first marriage gave me the space I needed to get better at processing those feelings.

Most of the funding for my work comes from Medicaid. I don't know how much longer I'll have a job. And the people I serve depend on these services for their survival and their independence. Half of them may be dead in a year.

It's a process. Coming from a home with atypical gender roles, I've been able to keep my son pretty agile about what is and isn't acceptable and good action.

Some real bigoted garbage crossed my path today. I've decided to remind myself that I've already chosen to live, and if people feel otherwise they can handle it themselves.
