100-mile bike ride today, and ~70% of it was on trails
Much of Boston road section had bike lanes, and the suburban roads were ok. Also, some of the road sections could be done on trail/sidewalk (e.g. waltham, southie), but road was ok alternative when considering speed

Unlocked 8 new towns by bike today! That's two Saturdays in a row I've taken the train down to New Bedford. Dartmouth and Westport were particularly pretty

I wasn’t in New Bedford itself for too long, but it was a pleasant ride around the south coast. pretty quiet down there, and there’s a nice rail trail along the ocean in Fairhaven/Mattapoisett

My work has these bike racks, and I appreciate the high capacity… but it’s never filled
It’d be much nicer to just have fewer, well spaced, normal racks– but then the development wouldn’t get to claim to the city that they have 40+ bike parking spaces

I somehow always seem to bike about 2,700 miles a year, regardless of bike trips or setbacks:
2022
- Central NY is cold snowy and hilly
+ Two centuries
+ 3 week NL tour
2023
- broken collarbone
+ erie canal
2024/2025
+ regular biking for transportation all year
- fewer long weekend rides

And that adds another 9 towns to the count of towns I've biked to round-trip from Boston using just bike and public transit, bringing the total to 212 of 351 (60%)

Last June I did another camping/biking/ferry/CapeFlyer/rail-trail adventure to Provincetown and the Cape
The ptown dunes were so beautiful, and the Wellfleet Hollow Campground is conveniently located at the end of the Cape Cod Rail Trail, which provides easy access to beaches and restaurants

They’ve been installing these stripes all along the Brookline section of Muddy River/Emerald Necklace path. Some thoughts
- Sharks teeth facing the wrong way
- what does this mean, that people coming from the side path have right of way?
- just seems unnecessary. It’s a fairly quite path
