My favorite Doctor and companion:

Penultimate episodes of DW tend to be my favorites, especially when Mr. Davies is at the helm.

I found RFS’s discussion of the episode to be a lot more interesting than the episode itself. Thanks to RFS to doing some research, helping people appreciate an episode which they didn’t really “get” on first watch.

Perhaps all of the members of the Past Companions Support Group are now deceased and/or missing(?)...besides Mel.

However, the goatee/van dyke trend was kind of cool to certain people.

The older music used was from Midnight (and is titled "Midnight"), but also got used in later episodes. At 2:22 we hear the most recognizable section: youtu.be/4G5BdTypWdI?...

I like the Mind Robber hypothesis. Discussions about Mrs. Flood remind me that The Rani could show up as a man (Mrs. Flood is obviously not a man, but we might see The Rani as a guy, sometime).

What Steven described as dialogue "too on the nose," I interpreted as Disney wanting to make the show simpler and more clearer for kids. This episode did seem like a little Disney movie for children.

Looking forward to more Dudley Simpson music presentations, however they may come.

Does Ann play flute in the video? She wasn’t bad, and I always wished she’d play it more in Heart.

I grew up in Mukwonago, WI, and first saw Doctor Who in early 1983, w/ Warrior’s Gate. I remember seeing it listed for at least a year or two before that in TV Guide, so Milwaukee PBS probably started airing DW in 81 or 82.
