The harm that the Trump administration is inflicting on the race to avert climate catastrophe is clear and so are the avenues for defiance.

Trump’s rollback of US climate policy requires a subnational, international, and private sector response

Wind and solar are cheaper, faster, and cleaner than coal. That's why they now generate more electricity than coal in the US. Trump's policies to prop up coal will cost billions, increase deadly lung disease and accelerate climate change. They will slow, but not reverse, the ascendency of renewables

The Trump administration's policies to keep obsolete coal plants running won't revive the coal industry, but they will cost consumers billions, increase deadly lung diseases, and accelerate climate change. Fortunately, we have cheaper and faster clean energy choices. www.wri.org/insights/tru...
More Coal Won't Solve US Energy Woes
The Trump administration is taking steps to keep aging coal plants online as energy demand rises. But this will lead to higher electricity bills for Americans.

@pkrugman.bsky.social nails the absurdity of Trump's love affair with coal. One additional fact worth noting: In 2024 wind and solar generated more electricity than coal in the United States.

We need more of this #RadicalPragmatism. It’s radical because even limiting warming to 2 degrees requires a radical change in our energy system. And being pragmatic is essential. We can quibble about the role of CDR, hydrogen and COPs, but this is at least 90% right. LFG!
So there you have it. A #PragmaticClimateReset is needed in order to maintain momentum toward a low-carbon economy. In Part I, I show that the transition is not dead. In Part II, I list some ideas as to what it might entail. The transition is dead. Long live the transition! 27/n
