You’d think I’d be used to returning from a week off work to a massive to-do list, tons of emails, and a dumpster fire of issues that cropped up while I was out, but nope. It still amazes me every time the amount of playing catch I have to do.

I’ve been off work this week and have done nothing but read and relax since Sunday. I refuse to feel like I’m being lazy or unproductive even though there are things I could be doing around the house.

It's nice to see so many more people active on here.

When your husband brings you two Reese’s peanut butter cups because he knows you’ve had a shit day, it reinforces how lucky you are to have him as a partner.

Our internet has gone out 5 times this morning and at least once a day for the last month. Cox communications response is “we’re aware of the outage” and then the VR phone system hangs up. This is really getting old. At 11pm it isn’t as much of an issue, but now it’s impacting my ability to work.

Back to work after a week of relaxing. Not surprising to people who know me, but I spent a lot of time playing video games on my time off.

Four nights in a row our internet cuts out around 1130pm. Last night that didn’t happen and we figured the problem was resolved. Today, it cuts out at 11am. Not amused.

Last year at this time I was recovering from a week at Disneyland and sad I had to return to the real world. Only 2 years until our next group trip to the happiest place on Earth.

Yes I did get up early to attend an optional meeting just so I could hear unqualified people make ridiculous comments justifying their bad process and decisions.

You know that feeling of relief you get when you finish up a daunting task right at the end of the work day on a Friday? Well I did too for about 2 seconds before I realized I messed something up and now I have to do it all again on Monday. *sigh*

Every year around this time I think I should pick up a hobby. Something like resuming a daily Yoga practice, trying to learn how to draw or speak a new language, or getting back in to photography. I never stick with it for long. I'm not sure why every year I think this year will be different.

So glad I’m off work for the next two weeks. It’s been a super busy and hectic year with extra projects, deadlines, and a variety of other factors. This time away is much needed, but I also feel guilty and like I'm letting people down. Or worse yet, they will discover I’m not needed.

Totally spent a good portion of my four day weekend playing a silly, but surprisingly chill mobile game with no ads and nothing that felt like I couldn’t progress without spending money.

I got to tell my boss that I don’t recommend agreeing to a request from another department with the phase “Poor planning on their part doesn’t mean it should be our problem to resolve.” Thankfully he agreed.

Thinking about checking out Season 2 of D4 to give it one more chance and see if they've made enough improvements to make it fun to play.

I’d really like to rant somewhere on social media about how frustrated I am with corporate America, among other things, but I know it won’t do any good and will probably just result in me being more frustrated.

It was nice to get out of the house for a walk around the neighborhood now that it is getting cooler (only 80f/26c) outside after the sun goes down.
