Part of being a fiction author is experiencing life. Whether you do that vicariously by reading other books or watching TV, or if you go out and try new things on a regular basis, what you experience informs your writing.

Step away from the keyboard regularly and refuel.

So, friends: I was going to take a few days off to mourn my dog. But I’ve got a reputation for speaking when I must. So, I will speak—consequences be damned.

Before the poem: This poem defends free speech and criticizes mob mentality. It is not a threat to any person or group.#resist#poems#poetry

Almost slipped yesterday
The call to fade away
Hold on, just a little longer
It might get better

@samknight.bsky.social's #writingtips for new authors: In 1st person POV, it makes no sense for your character/narrator to tell the reader what they couldn't see unless the story is told in past tense. "I walked down the hall, never seeing the hand that tried to grab me but missed."

I've spent a lot of time thinking about how much I hate AI. It has infected everything, and everything it touches is garbage.

Fellow writers,

Do not get discouraged by these gilded viruses. We need human writing. We need it now more than ever. Because AI can never replace a good writer.

"Love being #different, embrace it, share it, live it b/c being different isn't a curse but a gift we all possess that defines who we are & makes the #world a better place."

"Don't #focus on being different, focus on being yourself & your difference will naturally shine through!"

One of the most awful aspects of starting a project is facing that dreadful sense of imposter syndrome. Is the quality of my writing enough? Will I be able to reach my goals? I try to remind myself that it doesn't matter, that all that matters is committing to writing and learning along the way.
