Once saw this Facebook comment that listed “proper English food” and it’s lived rent free in my head ever since. The least appetising thing I’ve ever read.

His brilliant satire “Privilege” (1967), about the use of a pop star (played by Manfred Mann’s Paul Jones) to usher in a fascist regime is a must-watch in 2025 too.

Totally forgot about the time a few years ago where I went to a meme-themed Halloween party as “Centrist Dad”.

That’s not my hair btw.

(Fun fact - I actually coined the term “Centrist Dad” in early 2017

He either had a replica made as some kind of gag that only Tories would find funny, or there was more than one Ed Stone.

Either way, it’s just leant against one of the outside walls and is visible from the main road.

Even though I hate normal Oreos, the actual worst biscuits - they just taste like soot, I tried these for the first time this week and they are FUCKING INCREDIBLE.

As for worldbuilding detail, a friend pointed this out to me:

The Lord Harlech era BBFC card might just be my favourite bit of design ever.

I once did a version of my own for a vinyl night I run, also adding a bit of Pearl & Dean in there.

It still blows my mind that that short was made in 1968. It feels so much more *modern* than that, in this weirdly out-of-time coked-up fashionista way. If you didn’t know better you’d think it was made in the mid-80s at the earliest, easily.

Love Liza Minnelli and Bob Fosse, so quite how I’ve not yet seen her 1972 concert film Liza With A Z before is something of a mystery. But in truth it was entirely because of this Letterboxd review that I bought it.

Only if they’ll let me wear a balaclava like when the Manics did “Faster” on Top Of The Pops.

Even though that sounds like the best film ever made, I’m told it’s just “ok”.

Casati is worth reading about, really ahead of her time, much like Henry Paget, the 5th Marquess of Anglesey. Like Paget, she also died penniless. www.koturltd.com/blog/2016/10...

I don’t know how long they’ve been doing this - it’s been a while since I’ve bought a Masters of Cinema Bluray - but having a disclaimer to tell people to turn off motion smoothing on their tellies before watching is something every home film release should have. Nice one.
