Just look 🔥

You could see your captain navigate the seafight whilst you pumped away water you had taken on

I’ve made mods inspired by it. I’ve started to think it will be back with a vengeance one day.

Or something inspired by it. (Sea of Thieves is not the one.)

If anyone wants to reach out, maybe we can make it happen 👀
Pirate Ship
Set sail in this multiplayer scenario. Collect resources and fuel the ship in order to survive as many leagues as possible. The ship moves with code magic. Each crew has a captain, who performs actions such as deciding when the boat leaves. Doubloons can be spent at various markets throughout the game.

It had REAL culture.

The game still exists today. It’s kept on life support. On reflection, I think it’s going to come to life one day in a big way. Sea of Thieves is a dull facsimile.

I’m a developer now. Made mods inspired by it. If anyone reading this wants to pitch in we might make it happen.

This was ~2005.

There was real supply and demand for high-ranked pirates in various tasks that they specialized in.

When you encountered another ship, swordfighting was an awesome multiplayer Tetris variant.

My MMORPG of choice was Puzzle Pirates. You had to work as a team to keep a ship running, but each type of labor was a puzzle game.

I think about neopets a fair bit. That stage of the internet was pretty innocent. Lots of us were 10y/o and had a custom webpage that people visited, written in bare HTML.

Ok, what should we call it instead?

Can’t believe you would suggest the trust could be broken. Unfollowed
