The #Dark #Crystal #Adventure #Game offers a brilliant introduction into the world of #Thra, with a great focus on #exploration and social #encounters over the necessity for combat. #Combat in the world of Thra is #dangerous and best engaged carefully, if not avoided #completely.

Brakhan Ironroot and his #somewhat trusted companions faced Eyemongers on Sundays thrilling #adventures in #Wildspace.

Important questions were asked as bodily functions explores the #weirdness of #gravity.

There is a lot of wisdom and unveiling of tactics and approaches that the rich utilize that “the poor” certainly do not, and while we may not have access to all the same tools, understanding how the rich utilize the system is important to learn to navigate the world of finance.

It explores the terminology necessary to navigate the stock market and the most essential dos and don'ts

If you are a newcomer to stocks, ETFs, and diversification, then read this book and you will learn something. If you know what an ETF and P/E are, then you will not learn anything from this book

Miéville’s final entry into the Bas-Lag universe is a great conclusion. While Iron Council (2004) suffers under the same inevitability that The Scar (2003) did, that you cannot keep out-weirding the story and have it be sensible, it still manages to expand on the intricacies surrounding New Crobuzon

A #wonderful continuation of the main series that dives further into the history of our #protagonist, and I find the historical narratives more fascinating than the contemporary ones. The blend of #brutality and #mythos is intriguing, and I am keen to #experience where Vol. 2 will take the #reader.

#Welcome to #Dead House sets up these frightening situations only to find that they are #thankfully not dangerous but through the lens of the #unreliable #child narrator frightening.

BRZRKR Vol. 1-3 is a #journey into #gratuitoous #violence, and while not doing anything #groundbreaking in its #storytelling - it does its thing exceptionally well, #blending #high-octane action with a #main character you cannot avoid having #empathy with, ultimately rooting for his personal #goal.

The first pages of #BRZRKR Vol. 1 seem like a #masterwork in #gratuitous #violence, a #spectacle of #gore that I am not a fan of. Thankfully, as we finish the first few pages and dive into the protagonist’s backstory, the plot becomes more complex, and it BRZRKR is a great piece of action fiction.

The #Scar expands the world-building of Miéville’s Bas-Lag #universe, and while the #weird has been normalized as you enter the second book, it is still weird.

The Scar is about a floating #pirate city undertaking a colossal feat and aiming to mine #Possibility. What more do you #need?

Perdido Street Station is a #wonderful #weird #read. #Everything goes wrong when the #illegal substance “dreamshit” is introduced, and #Miéville takes the reader on an #acid #trip through an imaginative #steampunk world where we meet many more of the races of New Crobuzon.

#DarkMatter is a wonderful #atmospheric #horror. The setting is recognizable from H. P. #Lovecraft's #AttheMountainsofMadness and #JohnCarpenter's #TheThing but is somehow made more #eerie by the slow progression. Jack, the protagonist, becomes his antagonist as the #darkness turns more permanent.

The story had some interesting #worldbuilding until the #book became as much about having intercourse as anything else in the #narrative. I shouldn’t read the equivalent of an adult film and then complain about the lack of #plotprogression, but here I am doing that #anyway.

#Amelia is a quick read mostly told through diary entries, meaning it is an easy #book to pick up for a few minutes and hammer through #pages.

Rene manages to create an #eerie, slow, and #unreliable narrative in which the reader has to decipher what is being written and what happens.

“Tree-punk, a post-apocalyptic world where nature won, and what remains of sentient life has to adapt. #WaterWorld meets #TreasurePlanet meets #Attenborough’s #PlanetEarth, but on psychedelics.”
