President Trump has ordered prosecutors to seek the death penalty for every undocumented migrant accused of a capital crime – but not all U.S. citizens similarly charged.

Cathy Buerger argues that Trump’s order is an attempt to codify his dangerous speech toward migrants.
How Trump’s Death Penalty Order Codifies Dangerous Speech
Tying the harshest punishment the state can impose to the identity of the accused is dangerous speech that can increase intergroup violence.

One year ago we published an oped against deliberate mass starvation of civilians in Gaza. Appallingly, that grave crime is still underway www.dangerousspeech.org/libraries/op...
OP-ED: Israel Can - and Must - Fight Hamas Without Starving Gazan Civilians to Death
Israel's sluggish delivery of food aid to Gaza is unconscionable: it is tantamount to torturing civilians.

The dangerous speech @dangerousspeech.org framework teaches us that when those in authority dog whistle or more explicitly signal certain things, extremists immediately pick it up, amplify, spread, and normalise. Today, a white supremacist man based in NZ railed against DEI in a YouTube video.

Our researchers saw an increase in rhetoric by influential right-wing speakers around the idea that Biden is doing exactly what Democrats accuse Trump of – violating the U.S. Constitution, behaving like a dictator, and endangering democracy.

Political speech on the far right continues to emphasize the need for increased use of force. Audiences are directed to “prepare for war,” and to “guard the polls like soldiers,” along with numerous calls for the national guard to man polling stations.

Among other steps it ordered, the Court directed Israel to do all it can to prevent and punish incitement to genocide. This would be a vital and dramatic change since the Israeli president, minister of defense and other top leaders have publicly described all two million Gazans as mortal enemies.
