I can't believe Daft Punk's One More Time is now 25 years old. The album Discovery completely blew my mind when it was released in 2001. One of the most effervescent bits of creativity I've ever heard. We need Daft Punk back in our lives now more than ever.

It would've been amazing to see what he'd have created with the advances in technology through the decades. Sadly, it wasn't to be but we're lucky to have what we have, however brief. The Nomi Song biopic is great too!

The great Klaus Nomi. This striking Weimar influenced photograph, taken by Michael Halsband for Nomi's self titled debut album in 1980, borrows much from his appearance with David Bowie on Saturday Night Live in 1979. An extraordinary image of an extraordinary performer, taken from us far too soon.

Great fun watching Young Frankenstein this afternoon. A gorgeous tribute to Universal's Frankenstein films, ravishingly designed and photographed, with a beautiful score from the great John Morris. Fabulous!

Raising a glass to anyone discovering Edge Of Darkness for the first time on BBC4 this evening. One of best bits of telly I know.

I love Hammer horror films but for me, the Amicus portmanteaus are where it's at. Happy Hallowe'en!

Fog filled victorian London, Jack the Ripper murders, horse sick crones, and a dastardly Fu-Manchu. The glorious Talons Of Weng-Chiang.

I think this one's pretty well known. It's a photo held in the London Museum from the blitz.

Nine Bodies In A Mexican Morgue is incredibly silly but wonderfully addictive. The Casualty Jumanji mash up you never imagined you needed.

Object Z is a lot of fun. Not perhaps as well scripted as a Nigel Kneal or Davis/Peddler, but interesting and pretty sophisticated for its time. Well worth adding to the collection!

Fun day out at South Devon Railway. Bits of the 1982 BBC Hound of the Baskervilles (with Tom Baker) were filmed on this heritage line and nearby Dartmoor national park. Fabulous sunny day as you can see!

Watched Heretic this afternoon. Amazing film. Hugh Grant is astonishing, alternating deftly between funny and chilling. Superb.

Watched The Father again this afternoon. The film forces the viewer to see increasingly fragmented events through the eyes of the sufferer. The only thing that progresses in logical time is the illness which makes its depiction starkly cruel and powerful. Hopkins and Coleman are superb.

Now playing... Judie Tzuke - Ritmo. Corking album!

Watching The Witchfinder General. It really is a ravishingly beautiful film. Vincent Price is giving the performance of his career. Just fabulous.

Funny how different Blake's 7 looks on Blu-ray. I mean, look at Avon and Servalan.

The choir stalls at Exeter Cathedral. The original carvings are fourteenth century while the surrounding structure was redone in the nineteenth. Not sure precisely which bits are which but they photograph quite nicely! 😊
