Like every other time the Left comes up with an idea that sounds clever in its own echo chamber but is obviously illegal and immoral in the real world, they now claim they didn't mean anything by it. Too late this time!

Yes, they would. There are certainly exceptions, but arguing that the CEO doesn't have a massive impact on a company's earnings shows a lack of understanding regarding how businesses work.

If you own a company, you can get paid based on what the company earns. If you are an employee, you get paid based on how much money you can make for the company. Arguing that WNBA needs to be paid like NBA shows that you don't understand that.
