No, the federal budget isn't a pot of tax dollars waiting to be allocated— Congress authorizes spending that CREATES DOLLARS via Treasury and the Fed.

Taxes only remove purchasing power from the public, to control inflation. But your taxes don't go to the budget. See @stephaniekelton.bsky.social

That is incorrect. People on SNAP are far below the poverty line and generally qualify for Medicaid or Medicare.

People paying the most from the ACA increases are making 400% over the poverty line. They earn over $63k a year. They aren't poor.

18 states have paid some benefits, and Trump's demanding they take them back.

I hate to compare hardships-- but folks who'll be hit hardest by the ACA change are making 400% over the poverty line. They make over $63k a year.

SNAP people have to make less than $20k a year!

Okay, well I'm really not interested in discussing this with someone who just cusses and insults. I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.
November 11, 2025 at 12:51 AM
Why does the time of day matter? I was watching it live on TV. I really don't think that has any relevance.
November 11, 2025 at 12:45 AM
It's up to Congress now. We do not know what will happen next.
November 11, 2025 at 12:44 AM
I mean, they did say that at the press conference I watched in the middle of the night -- but yes I understand your point.
November 11, 2025 at 12:41 AM
I think you're mistaken if you think the 44 million people worrying about food assistance, and thousands of people standing in line at the airport were all blaming Republicans. Democrats were starting to get hurt as much as Republicans, and FOX propaganda would have only increased it.
November 11, 2025 at 12:39 AM
I think that's an exaggeration, but very well-- there are many who agree with you.
November 11, 2025 at 12:30 AM
And by the way, the Shutdown is still on. Nothing has changed. If Congress votes to continue it as they very well might, then so be it. But it's a bad idea.
November 11, 2025 at 12:28 AM
Do you think the government was NEVER gonna get funded for the next 4 years? WHAT do you think the outcome would have been? The shutdown WAS NOT WORKING, and day by day, Democrats were going to be blamed more and more.
November 11, 2025 at 12:26 AM
Yes, that's the world we live in! Do YOU know what's gonna happen tomorrow? Things are completely ridiculous. So that's why I think it's dumb strategy for people to attack Democrat Senators who are doing what they think is the right thing. Maybe they're wrong. But geez, they aren't the enemy.
November 11, 2025 at 12:24 AM
Yeah okay, thanks for the insightful critique.
November 11, 2025 at 12:20 AM
And the Trump administration returned to the Supreme Court just hours ago.
November 11, 2025 at 12:19 AM
I was as specific as I can be -- it will depend on the vulnerabilities of your representative. They all have weak points. Who would have thought MTG would want ACA extensions. There are more Republicans who quietly agree with her. Invisible SHOULD be helping people target their Republican reps.
November 11, 2025 at 12:18 AM
No, the SNAP funds are not flowing. The Supreme Court has ruled that they can stay frozen. Trump is doing everything he possibly can to not fund it.
November 11, 2025 at 12:16 AM
Yes, I agree -- ALL options are bad. The Senators did triage: what is worse? 44 Million people who have NO FOOD RIGHT NOW and are standing in food lines, or 22 Million people who will likely need to pay more for insurance next year. It's all terrible! But Democrats didn't do this, MAGA did this!
November 11, 2025 at 12:14 AM
The shutdown pressure WAS NOT WORKING. Meanwhile, MILLIONS of people were suffering. We have to exert pressure like we have all year -- MILLIONS of people going after Republicans from every weak point they can find. We can't just expect a couple hundred people in Washington to fix the problem.
November 11, 2025 at 12:13 AM
Why? It's fair to disagree with them -- but to treat them like the enemy for voting to restart SNAP funding for 44 million people, and to not allow Trump to fire countless Federal employees, makes no sense to me.
November 11, 2025 at 12:10 AM
How can you say you have faith in the Trump Administration agreeing with the Court rulings on SNAP, while not agreeing to follow the law against Federal firings? It's a mistake to base any decision on what Trump might do-- HE doesn't know what he'll do. Everyone's just trying to figure stuff out.
November 11, 2025 at 12:09 AM
What’s going to happen next is the American people have to pressure Congress to vote for the ACA insurance subsidy extensions over the next 40 days or so. Look— the shutdown fight WASN’T WORKING, okay?
November 10, 2025 at 11:48 PM
Why? Why are 6 Democrats who voted to restart SNAP benefits for 44 million people and not allow Trump to randomly fire countless Federal employees “the enemy”?
November 10, 2025 at 11:44 PM
But what evidence do you have that the shutdown was working? MAGA is FiNE with food lines and airport closures and people out of work. You think they would have given in by Thanksgiving? Christmas? That’s playing Russian Roulette with the lives of 44 million SNAP recipients and countless employees.
