Really interesting that there is a much reduced ED presentation and admission effect.

However Emergency Departments are still as full as ever so winter still looking to be a challenging one.

While RSV still feels a little muted.

Is this because flu has been competition?

The vaccine is showing signs of impact?

Or does it have some nasty trick up its sleeve...?

There is hope though.

Graph of admissions for RSV is definitely showing a different trend - and this looks to hold for < 5s and >75s

Will be interesting to see what November brings for Children's Emergency Departments...

RSV following a typical trajectory - will we see any impact from the RSV vaccination programme?

There is certainly impact in patients over 60 (vaccination rates 60-65%)

....less so for infants (with rates at 53%)

And thanks to @ukhsa.bsky.social
can now directly compare the admission rates for RSV between infants and older persons.

Will be useful to see what trends emerge given differences in vaccination rates between the two groups....

Also a novel methodology of trial design for antibiotic treatment.

A 'Durations' approach

Multiple durations some knowingly much shorter and much longer that thought needed to determine the optimum duration.
