Whilst Trump trashes renewables, Solar becomes main source of electricity in the EU for first time.

The renewable energy source accounted for 22% of the electricity generated in the EU, overtaking nuclear energy, which produced 21.6% of the electricity.

I'm thinking of all the many times I wore a watch, used a park, and walked a street in DC and was never robbed or mugged. Was I just *incredibly* lucky? Or is Stephen Miller a shameless fucking liar? (Hint: I suspect the latter.)
Stephen Miller on DC residents: "For the first time in their lives, they can use the parks, they can walk on the streets. You have people who can walk freely at night without having to worry about being robbed or mugged. They are wearing their watches again."

Nigel Farage and Reform have consistently voted against the Employment Rights Bill which introduces key worker protections like statutory sick pay from day one and a ban on zero-hours contracts - is that a party you would want to trust with your human rights?
On Tuesday Nigel Farage will publish his proposals for mass deportations, Prison camps, leaving the European Convention on Human Rights & scrapping the Human Rights Act, quitting the Refugee Convention and the UN Convention against Torture - is that a country we want?

Reform fixing local authorities with flags and waging a war on woke.

This will turn out well 😶
An independent councillor in a Reform ‘run’ council:
“They’re the wrong people in the wrong job. They have the ear of the country but they’re mainly racist white men of a certain age…
We’ll be in special measures in 6 months”
Imagine what they’d do to the country.

The worst element of what happened this week isn't even about immigration specifically. It's that Starmer surrendered against populism.

When our government use this rhetoric, they are giving up on compassionate leadership and giving in to the hate and division of Reform.

It’s not how I want this country to be lead.
Again, regardless of the actual policy (and I do think there's value in thinking on how you can have most impact on a constrained budget), the rhetoric is horrible and goes against everything I voted for

Endless references in media coverage today to the rapid increases in net migration in recent years and often too little explanation as to why: (i) keeping UK HE/social care afloat and (ii) an attempt to deal with post Covid labour shortages/supply chain inflation.

Investors are asking questions about whether they can trust the US that would have been *ridiculous* a few months ago. IDK how/whether Uncle Sam can get the trust back.
