This alien first appeared on #TNG in "Tapestry" (and in a deleted scene from "The Chase"), but went on to become a regular background alien on #DS9 (the screenshot is from "Duet")...

The alien is wearing a Starfleet uniform that I designed (a cross between the grey quilted shoulder First Contact uniform and the TOS Romulan uniform) and is sitting at a table in front of a bowl and glass. From their open mouth dozens of purple, prehensile, worm-like tentacles have emerged and grabbed a lobster claw from the bowl.

2 months of almost non-stop sunshine (still a bit chilly at times, though) meant #startrekfanart has taken a back seat while I worked in the garden and allotment. So, here's some botanical Trek art from 5 years ago: inside a #constitutionclass #starship #arboretum.

Packed into this Constitution-class starship's arboretum are nine plant species from on-screen Trek, and one from Gold Key Comics. There are also five interlopers from other realities. A path bisects the garden upper-left to lower right with a border of plants between it and the windows which look out into space and a planet. Along the path from right to left (front to back), on the left are: Pet vines - the green edged/centred leaves. Capellan flowers - pink & purple flowers with the yellow stamens. Two "Beauregards" - pink flowers with thick brown stems. Two spiky cactus-like plants from Ledonia III. A singing plant from Talos III - with blue disc-like flowers. Three retlaw plants - pink pom-poms on "legs". The first interloper is the Rangdo from 80s British game show 'The Adventure Game' - the aspidistra on the pedestal "talking" to the Starfleet science officer and the Kressari botanist by the Vortex Grid. The second interloper is the leaf pile from 'Calvin and Hobbes' - barely visible next to the door at the far end. On the right are: A Phylosian crew member - on the path partially obscured by the Capellan flowers (a Phylosian starship can be seen out of the viewports near the planet, too). A Kaferian apple tree - palm-like leaves with yellow-green fruit (there's one at the end over the door, too). Pod plants from Gamma Trianguli VI - purple flowers with yellow centres. A K-G running vine - it seems to be happy being stationary (this is the plant from the Gold Key comics - the Kressari botanist is wearing the same type of coverall as those worn by Captain Kirk and Janice Rand in the comic. Audrey II from 'The Little Shop of Horrors' film. Red weed from 'War of the Worlds'. Triffids from the 1981 BBC adaptation of 'The Day of the Triffids'.

I've joined Bluesky mainly to gaze upon and admire the amazing #StarTrekLowerDecks fan art posted here by various talented artists. But I'd also like to interact, which means that sometimes I'll post my own far less amazing fan art. Like this "Temporal Edict" poster I finished a few days ago.
