Few journals have done more for me and my writing during the past decade, so it is really special to be included in the 20th issue of @bansheepress.bsky.social which you can order now

Really impressed with the guy who did this as a nixer for us. It's a 19th c mirror from Paris that my wife got as a teenager and has been dragging around for the best part of two decades. Finally up! The plaster is very fragile but still mostly on the frame which is a minor miracle.

My dad's fifth anniversary today. 2020 was an appalling year. I've a new poem about grief and its delays in the 20th issue of @bansheepress.bsky.social journal which you can get here:

There's not much time left for old Tom Cromwell...

These books have been a fairly constant companion during a year I've been mainly too busy and tired to do a lot of reading and I'll be sorry for it to end.

So the thing i don't understand about this thinking is.... If there are no people working in businesses at entry level, who will there be to learn the business and progress through it? Who is there to manage? Why have a CEO at all? I'm the CEO of this one neat AI trick?

By a circuitous route, I've ended up with this recording of Bartok conducted by Bernstein that was from the record collection of Peter Opsvik, designer of the famous tripp trapp kids chair, among others.

Went along to my first Kongsberg Miners game last night. In the absence of top level football in the town, I guess I'm a basketball fan now.

In a vain attempt to retain some bit of hope, I'm reading this excellent exploration of ideas about peace, nonviolence, antimilitarism, and conscientious objection. The title translates roughly as "war is contempt for life". It comes from Nordahl Grieg's poem "Til Ungdommen" from 1936.

Is there anything as exciting as a man standing in front of a massive screen awaiting exit poll information? First exit polls from the early-voting results. (in Norway, you can vote several weeks in advance countrywide). Around 2 million people cast their votes in the past few weeks.

Reading this tonight to keep some small bit of hope alive!
