Most people do not realize: milk only exists because a cow had a baby. 🐄💔

This is the story of one cow, told through the cycles of her short life. A #dairytruth thread 👇
Dairy cows don't retire.

After 3-5 years of being pushed to produce 10x their natural milk, they're disposed of.

What happens when cows are allowed to raise their calves?

While the dairy industry likes you to believe otherwise, cows are wonderful mothers, if given the chance and the right environment.

Her udders are so swollen she can barely walk.
Her calves, taken one after another.
After a few years, her body gives out.

Weak
Tired
Alone

Healthy calves love to play & jump around. But in the dairy industry, they are separated from their mothers, so her milk can be bottled for our supermarket shelves.

Without her love & care, these babies suffer 👉 buff.ly/znvo424

“Ships like this are often loaded to maximum density. That means not all animals can lie down at once.

One lies down while another stands over it, transferring the sewage from its feet to the back of the one lying down. It gets everywhere”

🐮 Locked in plastic hutches.
No comfort.
No freedom.
No mother.

These calves were born, so their mother cows start producing milk. Most of it is used for human consumption. The calves will never see their mothers again.

💔 These babies reach through barriers, desperately seeking connection.

Calves torn from their mothers within hours of birth are confined alone—denied any bonding and comfort.
All so their mother's milk can be sold to us.

💔 Look at their eyes.
They're confused.
Terrified.

Calling out for the mothers.

These calves have just been separated from their mother hours or days of birth so that the milk meant for them can be sold to us instead.

🫣 The dairy industry has a dirty secret: after years of forced pregnancies, stolen calves, & relentless lactating, a cow's body breaks down. She can't make 'enough' milk anymore.

How many times do cows give birth? — Dairy-Truth
Most cows used for milk give birth three to five times before slaughter at only five to six years old. Each birth means another calf taken, so the milk can be sold, while the industry keeps mothers…

The dairy industry is literally killing calves.
🐮 Diarrhea is one of the main causes of mortality in dairy calves.

Calves with diarrhea often become dehydrated, have a decreased appetite, & difficulty standing. In severe cases, it can lead to death 💔
