Miller is saying we can't take in refugees from countries having problems. Well, the 1620 Pilgrims were fleeing religious persecution. The Irish were fleeing the potato famine. The Italians were fleeing lives of grinding poverty. Jews (like Einstein) fled Nazis. People came here for a better life.

I'm an indie author. You're totally right that Amazon wants the monopoly on ebooks. Note however that if the author sets up the paperback right (choosing Expanded Distribution), it can be bought through any bookstore, regardless of what's going on with the ebook version.
