Our black & white shorthair, Lucy, age 20 (20 *human* years, which makes her VERY elderly in cat age), is almost doped asleep by the gentle warmth of her new electric warming memory foam cat bed in dark charcoal (the bed itself is in her favorite cream/beige armchair). So asleep your head is kinda wedged. So asleep your paws are limp. Sooooooooo asleep

Jett. A shorthaired jet black kitty girl, about a year and a half old, does a biiiiiiig stretch half on her back in some short clover, Front paws are fully extended over her head, with white flashes of claw showing, and in one curled rear paw, BIG show of claws! Lucy, who is 20 human years old (depending how you calculate, that's probably over 85 in cat age), is resting on her very new and VERY fancy special 'it heats up but not too much for delicate cat skin' memory foam and electric heated cat bed (we put it in her favorite chair so she's try it. it worked). You can't see how adorable her little face with it's black diamonds shaped mask and ear cap is, but she's the sweetest Jane, also twenty, is resting on what was supposed to be an ottoman for HUMAN use. Yeah, right. A grey tabby with light marmalade undercoat, she is our fiercest elder girl

A small black and white cat is perched on a fancy new Christmas present memory foam heated cat bed (the 'Knead' bed) on a somewhat worn cream colored armchair with a pink scarf to protect the seat fabric. Behind her is a yellow toned lap rug, but she is very happily sleeping on the new 'rest your elder cat bones' bed, barely out of its box! (now if I had just moved that curtain rod box and the roll of weed suppressing fabric out of the shot. oh, well.)

One of my two favorite scents in the world (for myself) was from Editions de Parfums edp.fredericmalle.com - in my search for a bottle, I took the time to ask the site's quiz again about what they recommend. Utterly silly thing, but somehow fun.

Our most venerable weather person in New Orleans, a woman named Margaret Orr, retired last year and this year's weather season was FRAUGHT, because we relied on her so much for severe weather reporting and no one else is up to the task. I feel you.
A recent (yesterday, probably) post from Margaret Orr's Insta. She's Chief Meteorologist Emeritus now, and thank GOODNESS for THAT! Photo shows an image of a swirling hurricane satellite view, and Margaret's comments on the 2025 season on the left. "2025 Hurricane season ends today November 30. There were 13 named storms. 5 became hurricanes and 4 of those were major hurricanes. That is close to average which is now 14 named storms, 7 become hurricanes and 3 become maior. No hurricanes hit the US, this year. There were 3 cat 5 hurricanes: Erin, Humberto and Melissa. Melissa hit Jamaica and caused maior devastation. The winds 185 mph. 102 people died. The hurricane was well advertised. Evervone knew it was coming and could prepare. The remnants of tropical storm Barry were not well advertised. A tropical system that stalls can dump heavy...." You can see why we miss her succulent and professional summations and info!!

Oak alley on the country drive, Thanksgiving
A gravel drive gleams unnaturally white in the reflection of headlights, which also throw illumination that grows less intense in the distance across a curve, and shows a series of four oak trees. Not only does the scene seem quite ghostly, it also successfully makes me feel incredibly old, because I helped plant those oaks a number of decades ago as saplings (or at least VERY young trees)

Ok, humans: I have made the cake(s). As usual, the NYT thinks you have a sous chef - expect at least half again as much time as they claim, more if you double it (yes, I did. wowzers.) There'll be a report after it sits over night and is served tomorrow with the whipped cream icing/topping.

I'm working on the tidying up, damn it!
Photo of our open living room kitchen combo, on the living room side - the tall bookcase HAD been in my office, and it was HUGE there - it's pretty huge NOW. This is hte day it moved (Thursday), when it was only partially refilled after the move, and there were still books stacked on the couch and in boxes The living room with the bookcase almost completely filled, and no more loose books on the couch in towers and in boxes. The Picasso poster to the left was hung that day - there was a defunct thermostat behind it that we disconnected and tied off the unpowered electrical wire to) - the plant is also a new thing in that spot. working on clearing off the other surfaces in the room so its' not QUITE so chaotic, but honestly - we're more cosy than sleek, no matter what, so.... *shrigs*

You eat roast meat (because wolves eat meat) and cake decorated like a full moon. A holiday to the spirit of wolves that celebrates people who are kind to dogs? I can 100% get behind this. Photograph of a live Christmas tree that was shipped from a tree farm in a cardboard box about a foot square and probably nine feet long (tree is probable 8 1/2). The tree has been tightly trussed in order to protect the branches and get it into the box. in the right foreground, a cat scratching post has a square of cardboard balanced on top of it, and on top of THAT the chunk of several inches of trunk I cut off the tree's trunk base, to make it more able to absorb water from the blue bucket it's standing in.

A long delayed bookshelves and book moving project is in train today!

This bookcase WAS in the space that is now seen full filled with a much bigger BEAST of a barrister bookcase in the living room, picture two The beast barrister case (it's about 8 1/2 feet tall), which has taken the photo one china cabinet/bookcase's place, and is now being refilled with many, many, maaaaaaany books The two bottommost case sections in the barrister beast case are filled with all the heaviest tomes available! Don't kid me - I know you're going to expand the photo to read the titles!
