A Very British Dad in America
@dadagainstchaos.bsky.social
A Trump skeptic who hopes to be proven wrong, for America's sake. Father, citizen, idealist - fueled by reason, free enquiry and whisky.

aka @MChowdry at that other place...
This is rich - the man who thinks "culture" is something that grows in petri dishes is gonna celebrate America's finest artists?

Trump's 'very good prospect' comes from the same source as his election fraud evidence and his medical degree. So basically, his ass and a Magic 8-Ball.
Trump told reporters at the White House on Wednesday that there is "a very good prospect" Putin and Zelensky will agree to meet "very soon."

Lord help us all.

Texas GOP drawing districts like a drunk toddler with an Etch A Sketch, then getting pissy when Democrats won't validate their "artwork."
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott blasted Dem lawmakers who fled the state amid a redistricting fight. Abbott threatened to expel them from the legislature unless they return for a special session where Republicans are pushing through a new congressional map giving the GOP five more seats ahead of midterms.
Democrats ‘forfeited their seats’: Abbott blasts lawmakers who fled Texas amid redistricting

Somewhere right now, Hassett's frantically googling "how to un-say something on CNBC" while his phone buzzes with texts from Trump staffers that just say "???" and "dude" and one ominous "pack your desk"...
This may be the closest Hassett has gotten to being honest since he’s started working for the Trump administration

My guess is he’ll never get this close to truthfulness again
CNBC: Do you think we are starting to see a real slowdown in the jobs market?

HASSETT: Yeah, I think the jobs numbers were slower than we expected

The Republican Party is basically a medical marvel at this point - somehow functioning without spines, brains, or hearts, just pure muscle memory for bootlicking.
Elizabeth Warren: "We have Republicans, in theory, they could stand up to him. But I say 'in theory.' It's the most spineless bunch of people I've ever seen."

What kills me is this kabuki theater where Republicans pretend they're fiscal hawks while Trump's budget director is literally plotting to sabotage the process from within.

Oh they'll definitely, you know, sympathize with her - after all, she's facing actual consequences, which must be terrifying for them.
Wonder how sexual predator Brett Kavanaugh and sexual predator Clarence Thomas will vote on the fate of sexual predator Ghislaine Maxwell.

1,500 percent? Dude's so bad at numbers he probably thinks his approval rating was 140% because Fox News told him so.
A businessman should know this is impossible in the real world. A 100 percent cut would make an item free. You can’t cut more than that.
Trump claims he’s cut drug prices by “1,500 percent”

Detaining Korean nationals with legal status while screaming about "illegal immigration" is peak Trump logic. It's almost like arresting people for jaywalking while they're standing on the sidewalk.

Guy probably thought "Swedish steel" was just regular steel with better healthcare.
still thinking about the Montana knife maker who said you don't have to worry about tariffs if you buy american. and then three months later, he realized he imports swedish steel and german equipment. and even MiUSA equipment costs $100k more now because of tariffs

Somewhere in the White House, there's definitely a whiteboard with "OPERATION SILENCE MAXWELL" scrawled across it, with a panicked aide explaining that presidential pardons don't actually prevent congressional testimony, while Trump throws ketchup-covered fries at the wall screaming "FIX IT!".
Trump plans to pardon Ghislaine Maxwell so she doesn’t reveal what she knows about him, which is exactly why she must testify before Congress.

THE FIX IS IN!!!!!

This is just peak #MAGA - it doesn't really matter what you've accomplished, as long as you're willing to stand beside Donald and look miserable enough.
I don’t know about any of you, but when I think about the arts, I always associate opera with nude pictures.

You can practically picture Johnson frantically shouting "EVERYBODY OUT! SUMMER VACATION STARTS NOW!" while staffers desperately shred papers...
House GOP leaders are canceling Thursday votes and sending members home early for summer recess, spurred by the deepening Epstein crisis.

The decision comes after Republicans lost control of the floor over bipartisan pressure to vote on releasing Epstein-related docs.

If ignorance of the law is no excuse, what shall we make of ignorance by those enforcing it?
Kristi Noem, the homeland security secretary, bungled answers on Tuesday about habeas corpus, incorrectly saying that the legal right of people to challenge their detention by the government was actually the president’s “constitutional right” to deport people.
