Do you think if I stood outside the WH with a large version of the Virginia state seal, would I get in trouble? Would the Squatter there even understand it?

Part of studying Black History is facing the ugly parts that nobody wants to talk about, like the Tuskegee Syphilis Study. Started in 1932, almost 400 impoverish black men were recruited for a study on syphilis, but were lied to and given placebos so white doctors could study the disease’s progress

We might be facing a full coupe in this country, but I’m still going to post for Black History. Mary Jackson, NASA’s first black female aerospace engineer (1958) who would later become a manager for Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Specialist and helped women and POC build careers at NASA.

Today’s Black History Highlight: George Washington Carver, who was so much more than the inventor of peanut butter (which is all I was ever told growing up). He was one of the most important agricultural scientists of the 20th century who pioneered renewable farming practices to help black farmers.

When fascists take over, they try to rewrite history to match their narrative. For Black history month, I’m going to post one person each day who has helped make the US what it is. So today is Catherine Gobles Johnson, the black mathematician who helped make space flight possible.
