Hot take: the game is the most interesting bit of the PC’s life. That backstory shouldn’t be that interesting.
Have a couple of story books for your GM and a decent idea of where they are from and leave it at that.
If you’re writing a novel, don’t make it about your PC.

Well this sucks, I have Covid again. No idea when I picked it up. I can confirm that it is still out there and still not much fun…

My main Windows 11 tip/gripe is that if you use the right click menu to cut/copy/paste/rename etc, it make a a guess as to what you will do next and (and I am not kidding) removes it from the menu.
Instead the action appears as a tiny icon at the top or the bottom of the menu:

A side note: one of my big issues with backstory (and nothing to do with Matt’s video) is that at the start of a campaign, particularly if the PCs start at level 1 (or equivalent), PCs shouldn’t have much history behind them. The campaign starts near the beginning of their story! 4/13
