I have to say, "the Genesis Mission" is, based on its name, definitely a plot by Hank Scorpio that probably involves a needlessly complex way to poison the water of a major metropolitan area.

I dunno. I'm pro philanthropy, but, like, maybe in a just society, instead of some billionaire deciding to give $250 each to a bunch of kids...we should just tax them more? Would that be so hard?

Shocking how quickly people pivoted from "copyright is over-enforced and the RIAA is bad" to "copyright is under-enforced and genAI is bad."

Hard policy questions here about how to reward artistic creation, but the pivot from "remix culture" to "wait, not like that" is fast enough to give whiplash.

It’s easy to become numb to the fact that the US military is, on the President’s orders, deliberately committing ongoing war crimes for their social media value.

I truly do not understand Strategy. I think at this point they just assume that $1 of book value is worth more than $1 to shareholders.

Which, admittedly, is how it did work for them for a few years.

This demonstrates a conundrum we saw with the US invasion of Iraq, too: safety guarantees have to be ironclad for a rational actor to voluntarily give up power.

Given Trump's inconsistency in anything, it's unclear to me if he could ever make a promise Maduro could, rationally, rely on.

I’m disappointed by the Mobilitäts-Initiative, but it does strike me that the outcome of a “bad” election in Switzerland is that some roads are gonna have slightly higher speed limits than I think is wise, and in the US a bad election is more like “due process and the rule of law are now suspended.”
