Governments need to break up with the business ontology, and embrace public projects. With a Green New Deal, public power could change the way cities power their communities for the common good.
Instead of paying private solar farms for energy generated, cities should invest in public power that only costs funds to establish/purchase the infrastructure, and ongoing maintenance.
Renewable power is free beyond these costs, thus paying for power generated makes no sense financially.

With the election of 2024, similarly to that of 1876, we have a New Redeemer movement in charge of our political apparatus. This pattern of redress and retrenchment is observable across U.S. history.
History can and is repeating itself.

What has followed this previous era of progress is akin to the Redeemers of the late 1800s. MAGA has launched a war on critical race theory, affirmative action, “wokeness,” and what they call “radical gender ideology.”

We had our own era of social advancement with the Obama administration, the rise of Black Lives Matter, the widespread adoption of DEI, and the broader societal shift leftward toward anti-racism into the mainstream.

In response to the Reconstruction Era as a racial justice project, white supremacists reacted with the ‘Redemption Era’ involving the rolling back of social progress and the codification of Jim and Juan Crow.
