So very important that the Australian Government has released its evidence-based climate risk assessment.

It explains so clearly that climate risks are not far off, but right now and very soon.

Risks are not limited, but widespread and, indeed, touch us all.

Breaking: First climate risk assessment finds 1.5m Australians at risk from sea level rise by 2050
One and a half million Australians are at risk from sea levels rising by 2050 unless climate change can be limited, Australia’s first national climate risk assessment warns.

One of the biggest challenges in predicting Antarctica’s deeply uncertain future is understanding exactly what’s driving its ice loss writes @czhao-ice.bsky.social in @aunz.theconversation.com: utas.au/gJ

Our new Nature Communications paper on hidden water beneath Antarctica is making waves — featured by 60news outlets after an interview with AAP. Subglacial water could speed up ice loss and sea-level rise.

Water flowing under the Antarctic Ice Sheet lubricates the base, speeding ice flow into the ocean. Most models oversimplify it.
We showed just how much that matters—especially near the grounding line.

Subglacial water—often overlooked—can change sea-level rise projections by up to a factor of three. Big implications for how we model Antarctica.
