Update on my spice rack:

- Everything useful
- Nothing past its prime
- All useless clutter gone

Exactly what we hope for when a new Congress is sworn in in January 2027.

Not so tuff, it turns out. This was Day 1 (of 1).

The spice cabinet is out of hand, with many hangers-on who have been there way past their prime. Time for a clearing-out.

Kind of like Congress...

Not my cat -- this was at book club last night -- but I cannot stop laughing at this pic.

Time for a news-y edition of The What If Journal -- a couple of special announcements, and just some fun and inspiring times in NYC. (No Mamdani sighting, sadly.)

Not sure how many more almost-losses (or worse, losses) against mediocre teams that I can take this season from the Green Bay Packers. #HeartAttackPack

And that sharp bark. Before we adopted our corgi-cattle dog rescue, we had little experience with corgis and were unaware of the bark. My ears have still not forgiven me.

But dammit, she is cute.

I have a sneaking suspicion that this so-called cozy cottage book stand (AKA, the latest in ruin-your-books functionality) was designed by the same evil person who, “to achieve a uniform look,” suggested turning all books to a spines-inward position on one's bookshelf.

They're glad I'm home. I'm glad, too. Love NY, but happy to have made it back to Denver late last night.

Leaving #NYC after a lovely few days. Lots of walking, saw my niece's choir sing at Carnegie Hall, fun times with family. It always does my soul good to come to NY.

Yeah. All this!

Election Night salsa making.

Today's edition of my #Substack, The What If Journal, explains the Read a Book, Feed a Neighbor program. Plus, some voting history for #ElectionDay.

Please get out and vote, everyone! And please consider buying a #RABFAN book & supporting food banks.

Cheesman Park Pavillion at sunset (and my shadow). Cheesman plays a big part in both Anyone But Her and Denver Noir. I always love coming here.

This handsome fellow joined our family this week. Hoping to make it permanent, but cat integration is rough so far. Cat does fine with our current dog, and the 2 dogs are getting along. If anyone has cat/dog suggestions, we are all big pointy ears.

Given the appalling situation with SNAP benefits disappearing (thanks, cruel and spineless politicians), I was thrilled to come across this great idea from fellow author J. Kyle Turner: Read a Book, Feed a Neighbor (or, as Kyle and I have been affectionately calling it, “#RABFAN).

After hours Rudolph and Santa, and can I just say, all costumes should be as comfy as this one. (Mine more than his…)

Lovely hike on the Spring Creek trail near Rapid City over the weekend: tunnel (!!), pretty lake & 4 of these crazy bridges. We had a good laugh at the car at the trailhead w/ the vanity plate TAXESUCK. This is USDA forest land. How exactly do they think the trail got there, if not w/ tax dollars???

Today’s edition of my #Substack, The What If Journal, digs into what’s I love about meeting with book clubs. Plus, meet members of two book clubs with unique approaches to their group’s meetings and book choices.

Not a great look, Denver Post. While it's right to honor Demaryius Thomas's legacy, his unfortunate initials, combined with the fact that 7 million Americans protested yesterday, including at least 25K in Denver, seems like it deserves more prominent placement than a narrow column to the side.

Something interesting today: the non-supportive vehicles that went by had windows rolled up & the adults inside staring straight ahead -- but children were looking at the people gathered outside.

Your children have their eyes on you. History has its eyes on you.
