Based on the money provided to the PBLLC I don't see how it can't sustain itself for a very long time assuming they design for horizontal growth instead of vertical. The team is incredibly small... the community isn't gigantic...

Protocols like email and RSS almost always require individual providers to pay for hosting costs. I'm not sure why ATP would be different? Commercialization was the aspect of Twitter that Jack liked least...

Federation will make mining user data incredibly complex and limited. It's not even clear to me that Bluesky is looking to generate sustainable profits. Developing an open protocol rarely translates into revenue.
