For my fellow nerds, this is an insane piece of hardware for $2,000.
-20x U.2 drive bays.
-2x 100G network interfaces
-4x 25G SFP ports
-4x 10G SFP ports
-16 core Arm processor and 32gb of ram.
-dual hot swap PSUs

This is just insane hardware for the money.

The word "swarth" simply does not exist in the American vocabulary. So this reply is not from a U.S. citizen or voter for that matter. What's interesting to me is pulling on the linguistics thread: where are they actually from?

This is the Deepal S09 SUV. Deepal is owned by State-owned Changan Automobile. The S09 is a full-size luxury SUV that's between a Ford Explorer and Ford Expedition. It features Huawei's self-driving system and starts at $48,000.

A lot of my posts for the next few weeks will focus on both the decline of Tesla's brand value and the simultaneous expansion of the EV industry. For now, the protests in front of Tesla dealerships continue for the third straight week.

The decline in Tesla sales is very real.

This will be the first in a series of posts on Chinese EVs. The BYD Seal won Japan's "EV of the Year" which is remarkable for a number of reasons. 400 mile range, 0-60 in 3.8 seconds, 20 minutes to add 240 miles of range, autonomous driving system, starting price of $24,500.

I wonder what the penalties are for this sort of fraud in Canada.

As far as I know the Taliban still has these engineers. This should be extremely concerning to all.

Napoleon's invasion of Russia was another prime example of the defender rarely winning a battle but ultimately winning the war. The Russians were greatly outmatched by Napoleon's tactical mastery and forces but ultimately they were able to outlast him.

Many people have heard of Hannibal but their knowledge is generally limited to his use of elephants. In reality Rome lost battle after battle for years in the Second Punic War. The only reason Rome won was their willingness to keep fighting and ultimately outlast Hannibals will and ability to fight.

Only a decade later this was repeated over a 20 year period when the United States occupied Afghanistan in the wake of the 9/11 attacks. The U.S. never lost a single battle and imposed a huge casualty ratio on the Taliban... but in the end it meant nothing. The Taliban outlasted the U.S.

From 1979 to 1989 Russia invaded and occupied Afghanistan. The Afghans never won a single battle in ten years. However, they ultimately imposed large enough losses on Russians that they were forced to retreat in defeat having accomplished nothing.

Ironically the lessons of the American Revolutionary War were not lost on the North Vietnamese Army. The U.S. won the vast majority of battles in the Vietnam War but, ultimately, the price of attrition was simply too high and the U.S. was forced to go home.
February 15, 2025 at 4:39 AM
My first example will surprise a lot of people: The American Revolutionary War. The U.S. was heavily outgunned and lost more battles than they won. The strategy of the Continental Army was to avoid decisive battles and simply stay in the fight long enough to outlast the British.

Not only did they fire a SAM at a civilian aircraft but they also then denied it an emergency landing at three different airports and ordered it to divert to Kazakhstan and then jammed its GPS. Their hope was likely that it would crash into the Caspian.
