In stead of sending a link to old threads every time someone uses the term "Dark Ages", I decided to put it all in an article.

Why most historians no longer use the biased misnomer “dark ages”.

Why most historians no longer use the biased misnomer “dark ages”
This is not YET another article on why calling the early middle ages the dark ages is iffy, it’s a list of sources & references. These days most historians no longer use the term “D…

My stance towards generative AI has been the same for the past 3 years: why the fuck would I ever want to read or view something made by someone who didn't want to take the time to make it?

Why is my time less valuable than theirs? Get outta here

38 years ago tomorrow, on Nov 22, 1987, a broadcast pirate wearing a Max Headroom mask interrupted a WGN newscast. Later that night, the same pirate interrupted a Dr. Who episode on WTTW. The perpetrator was never found. dfarq.homeip.net/max-headroom...

Selling the F-35 to 🇸🇦 (and thus leaking its secrets to 🇨🇳) should be a red line for anyone who takes national defense seriously.

But at this point anyone who takes national defense seriously has been a Democrat for a long time now, so it's just the thousandth reason we all vote blue.

As far as I can tell, my boss tried to fire me, but her boss intervened and fired her instead.

The same thing happened to my wife when we were dating.

Don't fuck with us, I guess?

"US Attorney General Assigns Prosecutor to Look Into Epstein’s Ties to Prominent Democrats"

Scandals usually only hurt Democrats. Republicans only pretend to care when their enemies do bad stuff, and the Left is too good to defend their own in any situation ever.

I'm not going to hold my breath that Trump's enablers actually care enough about the Epstein files to take meaningful action based on their contents.

The Onion is so stupid anymore. Schumer opposed the thing they're dunking on him for allegedly doing. The 8 Democrats who broke ranks were:

Angus King of (ME)
Tim Kaine of (VA)
Dick Durbin (IL)
John Fetterman (PA)
Maggie Hassan (NH)
Jeanne Shaheen (NH)
Catherine Cortez Masto (NV)
Jacky Rosen (NV)

From an investment perspective, is there a legitimate use case anymore for CDs?

Seems to me that they're always worse (lower APY, less liquid, equally low-risk) than Money Market accounts.

Update: they eventually fired her. Good riddance! She was bad at every aspect of her job, and her idiotic flailings damaged the careers of multiple people on my team.
I think I found someone in the professional world who is illiterate, and using a combination of AI, speech-to-text, and text-to-speech to fake their way through written communications.

Just found ten realistic-looking fake 20-dollar bills on the way home from lunch. It looked like someone might have thrown them out of a car window.

Maybe some local drug dealer got euchred out of $200. Stuff like that is the backstory behind the vast majority of St. Louis' high murder rate.
