Anyone who would say “I’d be willing to oppose a fascist state if the protesters were more polite about it” would never actually oppose a fascist state.

Just like how all the people clutching pearls about the George Floyd protests were similarly outraged by athletes kneeling silently.

Protests are supposed to be disruptive. That’s kind of the point.

One more: post WWII, when they were drafting the Universal Declaration of Human Rights there was initially no distinction between Human Rights and Civil Rights (they were both covered). But southern states pushed back, saying they would block ratification in the US unless civil rights were removed.

Similarly, the reason the US refused to ratify the Genocide Convention was concern that it would be used against them for their current treatment of African Americans.

I know Ancient Greek and can confidently say this is far harder to wrap your head around. 🙂

Granted, I work at a desk, so everyone eats while working, but I can’t understand people’s need to police each other over stuff like this.

I am convinced that peanut butter is the perfect food and can talk at length as to why. Short version: it is delicious, shelf-stable, provides a balance of fat, carbs, and protein, and goes sweet or savory equally well.
