This reminds me of non-canonical processing of viral miRNAs.

Right, look at the spouse too. How many elected officials are married to lobbyists or "consultants" that work with lobbyists. It's gross.

I agree. I was going to share this article on FB but the auto-headline there is even worse 😭. "Hey people who didn't care about the DEI cuts in science before, it also hurts white people!!"! Come on 🙄. It was a decent article too, pointing out that science will be left to elites.

I’m not so cheerful, because I believe strongly that pathogen research should be based on public health need & evidence-based risk-benefit assessments. Experimental research can’t be replaced with AI & it needs to continue safely & securely. But this EO isn’t about that.

my point is, being curious and calling for further study, is not giving "too much weight" to lab leak. saying we don't know for sure is not tantamount to supporting one position or another

I see nothing misleading about this. It states that the WHO found it unlikely, just that they weren't convinced the evidence was sufficient enough to say that and to investigate further, testing all hypotheses.

This article says these scientists didn't say anything at first bc every position on the topic was being politicized at the time & they weren't confident re lab leak vs zoonotic, so they said nothing. Until it started to seem as if that meant they supported the zoonotic theory. That's not misleading

we have an indian postdoc who was shocked at how much the same Rainin pipettes cost here vs India. Like maybe these supply companies need to lower their prices 🤔

People don't want factory jobs; They want the LABOR UNION protections, salary, benefits, insurance, safety, and shared profits that we unknowingly yet nostalgically & exclusively associate with manufacturing.

No reason that service and information economy jobs can't be unionized at 1960s levels.
