To introduce myself, here are three things about myself that I'm proud of:

1. I have, like, a lot of karma on Reddit, mostly from posting original memes,

2. @lastpositivist.bsky.social has retweeted me at least twice,

3. I somehow managed to publish a philosopy paper while in industry.

Holding institutions constant, would you prefer Xi or Trump as a head of government?

Non-Trump supporters, would you prefer Trump or Xi to be your head of government? (Holding institutions constant)
We are assuming that political institutions would stay constant (unless changed by the chosen person). I.e. if you are American, then you would be choosing between having Xi or Trump as your president...

Trump's relationship with Epstein is horrendous, but compared to other stuff trump has done as one of the most impactful world historical figures, it probably doesn't even enter the top 20 worst things he'd done.

US and Israel are trying really hard to be the new axis of evil. I just hope Europe won't join it.

The only good thing about Trump's big beautiful bill is how it transfers money from Trump's poor and uneducated voters to the rich liberal elite.

Americans should really start rereading Locke on conditions under which revolution is justified.

I think people are still in denial of the fact that 50% of Americans are just straight up Fascists.

I was hoping that the Trump administration would have a Liz Truss moment, but not like this.

What people miss about the trade war between the US and China is that economic pain is not what ultimately matters. Only political pain matters, and China is in a much better position there than the US.

Removing regulations by default might be worth trying in some areas like zoning, but it's insane to start with environmental protection. The damage could be irreversible and the feedback is slow.

People use such moralized language when it comes to China's trade practices: "cheating", "stealing". I think this conflstes socially constructed (and often unjust) rules around IP, trade, etc with natural moral laws.

Am I dumb or is raising tariffs on China from 104% to 125% completely pointless. Like everything is just gonna go through Vietnam and get 10% at this point.

Crazy that Trump folded but his base will probably eat it up as a win

People who make "wanting to only date people who share your political views" sound like a bad thing are just closeted relativists. If you have a grip on reality, you'd agree that Trump voters are objectively insane and it's more than reasonable to not want to date insane people.

I think we are talking enough about how authoritarian Trump has proved to be. He has placed himself above Congress and the supreme court. Protectionism is deeply unpopular among the Republican establishment, yet Trump has faced little resistance. It's obvious that he's a wannabe dictator.
