I first came to use the word as a fully addicted WoW-playing teenager.
If a Horde character in World of Warcraft typed "lol", an Alliance (enemy to Horde) would see it as "kek".
Since I was playing Alliance (a night elf) character early on, seeing "kek" and other Horde speak actually scared me,
