This is an epic thread chronicling the Afghanistan war by a combat veteran. Remarkable and moving.
My Afghanistan war book THE HARDEST PLACE is approaching its four-year anniversary.

Since I’ve mostly migrated from Twitter to Bluesky, over the next few months I’m going to recreate here a long thread of photos that many readers have enjoyed scrolling through as an accompaniment to the book.

This country is fighting with a volunteer army to repel a foreign invasion and they still organize protests to defend the institutions that protect democracy inside their borders. This is as badass as it gets.

I think Bernie Sanders hasn't learned his lesson.

-- Susan Collins
Bernie Sanders has said in the Senate after Susan Collins reportedly laughed about the new funding bill:

“If this bill passes, certain groups will see their premiums triple. When you remove healthcare from 15 million people, 50,000 Americans will die who didn’t have to. Do you think that’s funny?”

Mamdani's election has national significance. Mainstream Dems and Republicans—including MTG and the President—are suddenly emphasizing his major talking point of affordability.

That *any* of them needed a wake-up call to address rising prices and obvious economic hardship is remarkable.
