Point being, descendancy from the Mayflower has often been cited as some sort of rare thing, but in reality I think many more people than anyone imagines are direct descendants. I'm pretty sure I am based on my family tree, but it's really no big deal.

I've read before that, if you go back far enough in time and you can prove a person from that time has at least one direct descendant alive today, then *everyone* alive today is a direct descendant. And you didn't really have to go *that* far back in time (I think at least after the time of Jesus).
