A geeky individual, passionate about books, TV and the fantastical. Has an active imagination and a liking for history (especially in podcasts). Does environmental campaigning sometimes. One half of @dtdiscworld.bsky.social podcast. Probably tired. She/Her
Here's our book haul from @worldfantasy2025.bsky.social. We bought 9 of these and the rest were freebies from con bags or free books table.

Got my Great A'tuin pin badge, ready for the Pratchett panel at noon

Due to @davegotsu.bsky.social always being Very Prepared with travel we just went to London Bridge from Euston and the Thameslink means we've just got here. Also there were so many carriages it wasn't at all crowded. See you later!

Morning Womble! I'm on the final chapter of The Curse of Chalion by Lois McMaster Bujold, which is excellent. I have read through pretty quickly compared to my usual reading speed. Hopefully see you at WFC next week.

Here's what I'm doing at @worldfantasy2025.bsky.social on Sunday 2nd November.
October 18, 2025 at 4:01 PM
Today we painted the shed as a family. This is just the first coat, we'll need to do at least one more.
September 28, 2025 at 6:11 PM
On Wednesday this cool-looking beetle came to shelter on the windowsill of the shed, and just hung out there for hours as we built in increasingly wet conditions.
September 19, 2025 at 11:51 AM
On Wed and Thurs we made good progress on the shed, which is basically constructed and mostly just needs finishing and tidying. We'll paint it when it's drier. Not bad for 2 days work in damp conditions.

Finally eating my delicious vanilla doughnut, a real proper doughnut. But gluten free. This was from 1 of 2 doughnut stalls. Probably surprising Kid and I aren't more stuffed, though he's gotten too full twice today.
September 13, 2025 at 7:42 PM
Kid & I went to the Free From Festival today, bought various treats, went to some talks and got some cheap bread. It's been a day of mixed weather and we mostly avoid some heavy showers, but the festival was briefly blessed by a rainbow
September 13, 2025 at 7:34 PM
Kid got a huge red balloon (thanks after school club!) and it's reminded me of the Rambaldi device from Alias.
Also, does JJ Abrams have a Thing about red spheres, I think there was something in Star Trek as well.

Big beautiful double rainbow outside now, though my phone camera can only pick up the main arc.
Then this pigeon landed in an auspicious spot.

Post a random Trek image

Is there life on
August 24, 2025 at 11:35 AM
3 colours done, only 1 more to go. Probably pretty clear what this is now
August 12, 2025 at 9:11 PM
I've done 3 harvests of ours now and given plums to friends, family and strangers. Now only the high up stuff is left. Though our new, small plum tree is properly fruiting for the first time, so we'll see if those ripen too.
August 2, 2025 at 7:17 PM
Ok that's all the bright orange now.
August 1, 2025 at 8:56 PM
Progress!

Today's extreme pruning, done in order to fit fence panels, has meant further additions to the massive pile of branches and stuff up the back. Though @jefrir.bsky.social, who is wise in these matters, says it's a hibernaculum, as it's a good place for bugs to shelter. I'm always keen on a fancy word
July 27, 2025 at 4:23 PM
There were some obvious issues while we were there, but Doncaster was not as bad as I'd been led to believe. Tho I realised anywhere seems clean compared to Brum right now. They have this amazing place, Dope Burger, which has a huge gluten free menu. Had to unhinged my jaw like a python for this
July 27, 2025 at 10:41 AM
Also nice to see @grumpytrilobite.bsky.social and family on our stopover in Sheffield, a place I really only know through reading Giant Days. He took care to show me (a person from Worcester) Henderson's Relish 🤔
July 26, 2025 at 7:29 PM
We were on a little holiday earlier this week, went up to Doncaster because it's the only place in the UK you can see polar bears. Saw a lot of other animals too.
July 26, 2025 at 7:21 PM
Started a new cross stitch project that isn't a kit. Mostly confident I have enough of the right (if not all exact DMC) colours of thread. Dunno if it's clear what I'm seeing yet?
July 21, 2025 at 8:21 PM
@mrmjprice.bsky.social they're finally rebuilding that wall you mentioned last week.
July 15, 2025 at 7:54 AM
Set up my fruit stall. Though is it a stall if you're not charging? Given/promised plums to neighbours on both sides, and there's more plums and rhubarb to be harvested. Put it on Olio too.
