The Guinness World Records lists the largest volunteer weather observation network as CoCoRaHS based out of CSU at our @climate.colostate.edu. CoCoRaHS is a grassroots volunteer network of backyard weather observers of all ages and backgrounds.

On Friday, @climate.colostate.edu Engagement Climatologist Allie Mazurek showed off a hail pad to visiting students. It consisted of a 12" by 12" square of styrofoam covered in heavy duty aluminum foil.

Professor Jeffrey Pierce was selected as one of 14 principal investigators for the 4th version of NASA's Health and Air Quality Applied Sciences team. His team will focus on using satellites and monitors to understand pollution exposure in rural, under-monitored regions.

Congrats to Deztynee Bryan on your @ametsoc.org 2025 Graduate Fellowship! Bryan's research focuses on tropical cyclones: on understanding the microphysical and kinematic processes that influence their intensity and predictability, with an emphasis on utilizing airborne radar observations.

Congratulations to Spencer Jones!

His research involves blending physics and AI to improve the resolution of microwave sensors by allowing the AI to “learn” the natural spatial patterns of precipitation to help find the physical solution.

The goal of driving the Plume Tracker was to find where and when ozone and its precursors occur, to collect whole air canisters for detailed volatile organic compound speciation, and to visit communities with little or no prior monitoring.

The book addresses common misconceptions and uses a geoscience perspective to provide context for the consequences of climate change. Burt specifically contributed content around climate change as a social justice problem.

Professor Emeritus Wayne Schubert received the Carl-Gustav Rossby Research Medal from the @ametsoc.org. It represents the highest award the society can bestow upon an atmospheric scientist.
