A religious nonprofit and several Roman Catholic clergy filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration on Wednesday claiming that immigration authorities had unlawfully blocked its members from ministering to people at a detention center near Chicago.

Chicago Catholic joined us on Saturday as over 1,000 people processed with the Eucharist from St. Eulalia to the ICE detention center in Broadview. At the doors of the facility, we were denied entry, but not silenced. We will continue the struggle.💪✝️

About 1,000 people followed the Eucharist from St. Eulalia Church in Maywood to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention center in Broadview on Oct. 11, singing and praying the rosary in English and Spanish.

We’re wondering the same thing. How can you deny the body of Christ and our right to extend communion to those in need of hope, solidarity and kinship. What is there to hide inside the detention center is so morally offensive that they’re unwilling to allow nuns and priests to enter?

For any Catholic, the sight of a Eucharistic Procession being turned away at the gates of the destination is the embodiment of Jesus being denied entrance. You don't have to be Catholic to get the symbolism in that!

We were a 1,000 faithful and courageous members strong today in solidarity with one another as we processed with God to the detention center to bring communion to our loved ones in detention
Streets outside the Immigration and Customs Enforcement processing facility in suburban Broadview were filled with song and prayer Saturday as a local church led a procession to the facility, aiming to give detainees communion but ultimately being denied.
Hundreds participate in procession to Broadview ICE facility, condemn detentions and deportations
Organizers say the event was held to provide solidarity and support to detainees at the facility, with participants walking more than a mile to Broadview.
