Fightan gaem scrub extraordinaire, I play BlazBlue
Something something blue hedgehogs
18) Bayonetta
Still stands to this day as my single favorite game of 7th gen. An absolute blast to play, this game is peak Platinum and Kamiya both, with some of the most fluid controls in any game you'll ever play. An absolute masterpiece.

Realizing just how little I spent this year actually playing anything NEW as opposed to genuinely just working on the backlog.
That said Ring Racers is peak go play it.

The first of a two-part Tactics RPG on the PSP and my personal favorite out of SRW's massive history if I'm forced to pick. This series is what opened my eyes to the wider world of anime, mecha ESPECIALLY, beyond what was just on TV, so I owe a massive debt lol.

16) Resident Evil 5
I can't in good faith call this the best Resident Evil, not by a longshot. What I CAN say though is that it's one of the best co-op multiplayer experiences to come out of 7th gen, and a bombastically fun time all around. Mercs clears ez

The best kart racer ever made, accept no substitutes. The proof that you absolutely can have technical kart racer, with an astounding amount of content for a fangame especially.
It's not necessarily for everyone, but PLEASE give it a try if you haven't.

Another case of a game that feels sadly misunderstood by its devs. A true breath of fresh air within the platform fighter space, with snappy controls and interesting character design that takes advantage of the genre. It's just regrettable how much the sequel misses the point.

Reminded by the other recent bad news (check other QRPs), this game was an overlooked gem. Admittedly somewhat flawed, as most early 3D action games are, it provides an inventive fusion of combat and movement mechanics that no other game has ever really come close to since.

If you know me at all you knew this would be here at some point. Not even my favorite Sonic game, but a fun time that wound up irrevocably changing my personality.
Sonic is a helluva drug, kids; not even once. Also has both some of Naganuma's best and worst music all in one game!

Quite literally babby's first JRPG for me that wasn't Pokemon. A mind-blowing experience for me, and a game I desperately need to replay at some point, between all the catch-up I'm also trying to do. Also sadly the only Tales game I've completed, which I ALSO need to fix 😵

Name a better party game. You can't. City Trial alone clears, and is right up there alongside F-Zero in needing an HD release that adds online play and changes nothing else. Sakurai you madman you've done it again, and outdid Naka in his one-button obsession at that.

A sadly overlooked gem due to its lack of distribution, having never seen a proper home release. There's never been another belt-scroller that feels quite like it, or is quite as intense. Additionally, I see it as the missing link between belt-scrollers and musous.

The best game in the series and I'll die on this hill. Later games in the series made the gameplay more flexible overall, but MGS2's laser-focused precision in its design has never been matched since.
Also, can you tell that I really like subversive storytelling yet?

HK is hauntingly beautiful, and provided an organic feeling of exploring a hostile environment that I haven't felt in a long, looooong time. For good measure, the combat design is simple yet immaculate, providing a surprising amount of flexibility for its (mostly) well done bosses.

A game that took me entirely too long to get around to playing it despite having a copy since the NA Wii launch due to IRL circumstances -- it's since gone down for me as one of my favorite JRPGs ever. Just wish I could stomach 2 more, and need to get around to 3 still.

The entire trilogy can go here, but Alternative is what truly elevated it. One of those stories that's best experienced as blind as possible, that turned into a non-stop two week long emotional roller coaster that I'll never forget. Peak fiction, best VN I'll ever play.

Nintendo will never do it like this again (hell, they never did to begin with, shoutouts to what is now RGG Studio). One of the most immaculately made racing games ever, with a soundtrack to match.
Also, I got to find an AX cab in the wild, which is an experience I'll never forget.

The game I frequently call the Last Video Game Ever Made. If nothing else, one of if not THE best action game of all time, with its only weaknesses being repetitive environments in the second half. A comfort food game for me, I can always boot up Bloody Palace for a good time.

If CentralFiction is the fighting game I got married to, MvC3 is my first love. Few games let you feel so truly FREE in how you move and fight, and the game acts as a gigantic love letter to the characters and games it features.

1) BlazBlue CentralFiction
One of the best fighting games ever made, a modern classic. Chuuni-Kino plot and aesthetics, wildly diverse cast with strong system mechanics underpinning, it has it all. Will play until I physically can't anymore.
